Lone Wolf and Kisky's Join Forces
After several weeks of anticipation, cancelling dates and rescheduling, Don and Kandi Kisky finally made the 5 hour drive from their South-central Iowa home, to the town of Edwards, Illinois to visit the Lone Wolf treestand company. The very same stand company that will provide the Kisky's with a secure confident feeling of safety and noise free stands as they pursue their quest for monster whitetail bucks, as we have seen so many times on their award winning Outdoor TV show “Whitetail Freaks.” Well let me tell you, yours truly, the "Blog Dogg," was pretty excited about their arrival. To actually get to hang out with such respectable, humble and fun TV personalities was a truly exciting experience. We've all watched them on TV, but to actually stand around and shoot the breeze in casual conversation was a true treat.

Don and Kandi Kisky are by trade farmers, a father, a mother, a husband, and wife first. Then when they transform into their Realtree camouflaged Scent-Lok suits, they become the fun, exciting, big buck chasing hunting team we have all grown accustom to. This year Lone Wolf treestands is proud to be the official treestand sponsor for Don & Kandi Kisky, and their Whitetail Freaks TV show. During their visit they were able to take in the daily operations at the Lone Wolf Headquarters. First, they visited the warehouse, where thousands of new stands were stacked and ready to be shipped out to various dealers and retailers. From there we went over to the Al Cast Company, where the stands become a reality. Don and Kandi got to see firsthand how the cast aluminum is poured into a mold to make the platform and eventually made into a finished product. They spent time with the hard working Al Cast employees, who take pride knowing they are producing the best treestands in the world. While there Don and Kandi chatted with the workers, snapped a few photos and signed a few autographs. Finally, after spending a couple hours at Al Cast we headed back to the Lone Wolf Lodge for pizza and sandwiches, and talked for awhile about food plots and various topics on what it takes to consistently kill mature bucks. But before they left, I had the opportunity to ask them a few questions and it went a little like this:
LW: Don and Kandi can you tell the Lone Wolf Nation how Lone Wolf stands will make you a more successful Hunter this fall?
Kisky’s: Lone wolf has always been the best, the leader of the treestand industry. The cast aluminum doesn't stand out in the tree, its super light and quiet to set up. With our style of hunting it's important to have something very simple and very quiet to get in and out of and we are very proud they are made in the USA.
LW: Don and Kandi, can you tell the curious minds out there how many Lone Wolf do you have up set up on your farms?
Kisky's: Well, we can think of at least one hundred double sets.
LW: Do you guys have any other planned hunts this fall aside from chasing monster bucks on your home farm?
Kisky's: Well, we would love to go do an elk hunt, but whitetails have really consumed our time, especially with having the TV show Whitetail Freaks. So we have hunts planned for Canada, Illinois, and we get a couple tags apiece in the state of Iowa so we really don't have to go anywhere else.
LW: Tell us what would be your response to the outdoorsman that says they really would love to have a Lone Wolf stand, but just can't afford one.
Kisky's: Well if you’re going to want to be successful in the field you’re going to have to invest in the best that’s out there. If you’re like us, the serious hunter, we talk about shooting Boone & Crockett caliber deer, so we want to have the superior stand on the market and we know Lone Wolf provides that. They are worth every penny. You know you’re talking about people's lives when in the stand and in a Lone Wolf you have the comfort and security you look for in a stand.
LW: Speaking of shooting giant whitetails, tell us a little bit about what it's like to shoot giant whitetails in South Central Iowa.
Kisky: We are very fortunate to live in Iowa, where the state regulations allow for the bucks to reach maturity status as shotgun season comes after the rut which is really crucial to reaching maturity; with limited amount of non-residents coming in. There are a lot of mature whitetails in Iowa and it is truly one of the best states to hunt mature deer in. On our farm, we are very fortunate to get to watch the deer go from 2 years old to 3 years old to 4 years old and older.

LW: Don, tell the Lone Wolf Nation something not many people know about Kandi.
Kisky's: Well ever since she has learned about texting I always see the back of her hand going to town on her phone, I tell ya it irritates the dickens out of me.
LW: Kandi, can you share anything with us that might make Don a little embarrassed?
Kisky's: (They both laugh turn to each other and innocently gaze into each other’s eyes).
No, I don't have anything!
LW: Explain to the Lone Wolf Nation what it is like to be one of the most recognizable faces in the hunting industry and share what is it like when people approach you and want to get insight on what it takes to produce a hunting show.
Kisky's: Well first of all we are just like everybody else, we are farmers by trade, a mother, father, and you know, we were never looking to be recognized or anything like that. We have always loved to hunt big whitetails and that’s pretty much it, we just want to continue to come across as who we are, and sharing this wonderful sport with our family, and our supporters, and to remain humble and normal around everybody and just be the best person we can be. To be successful in the show industry you must really love what you’re doing and don't do it for any other reason.
